Congregatie van de Heilige Geest

2009, Gennep

A slim, elevating look with a hint of secularity

The Congregatie van de Heilige Geest provides accommodation for priests returning from missionary work. All of these priests are now advanced in years and the monastery was not up to the task of providing good care and service. However, at the existing Liebermannhof monastery in Gennep, there was sufficient space available to construct thirty new service apartments.
If the fathers are no longer there in ten or so years’ time, the service apartments can be easily changed by merging them, so as to make them suitable for a new target group. This was taken into account during construction.

The new building blends seamlessly with the centre of Gennep. A beautiful ‘underground’ connecting corridor provides the priests with access to the shared facilities of the existing Liebermannhof, such as the chapel and the restaurant. The service apartments have a slim, elevating look with a hint of secularity in the architecture.
