a prestige project with a mix of functions

Our first real project was to build our own office in the harbour at Maasbacht in 1989. The municipality asked us to integrate a small museum of inland navigation in the building. For this public use, we also added restaurant facilities, which, over the years, grew into a restaurant boasting no less than two Michelin stars. Owing to its great success, the restaurant was substantially extended. We were able to express two important principles of design in this building: the mix of functions and the building as a ‘total work of art’. We devoted our full attention to the interior, the lighting, the cutlery and the tableware. A lot of our specialities were designed specifically for this building and it really set our firm on the map.
