Hotel Dux

2012, Roermond

a hotel with  27 rooms

Over the years, the Roerkade has turned into the Horeca promenade of Roermond. The less appreciated, rickety buildings are disappearing one by one. What replaces them must satisfy high requirements for urban beauty because the Roerkade is an iconic, historic part of the city. Our client planned to create a hotel on the corner of the alley and the quay with an ambitious programme.  Finally 27 luxury hotel rooms were constructed with a lobby, restaurant and underground parking for 11 cars. The hotel stands on an important sightline between the historic bridge over the Roer and the majestic cathedral. The nave of the church would have to be visible from all positions. Moreover, the design would have to fit the context of the adjacent buildings. This was successfully accomplished. The public scepticism at the beginning of the transformation of the Roerkade has turned into appreciation of an area in which you want to stay. Our firm contributed to this with a high measure of commitment.
