1991, Roermond

redevelopment of a listed school building into seven apartments

This classic school building on the Munsterstraat in Roermond had two wings built on in the grounds behind it. One of them was for classrooms and the other was the home of the headmaster. We converted the two high floors of the school wing into three floors and built a new volume on the site of the headmaster’s house. In the front of each home there is a living room with a split-level connection to home behind it. Under the existing school gates, we created an ingenious access route. The main building facing the street was entirely retained. The appearance of the school from the road has not changed at all, which is important for the people of

Roermond who have an emotional bond with the building. Now fully restored, this magnificent building is ready for the future.
