Leenderhof

2004, Leende

a new centre point for the centre of Leende. A meeting place for young and old.

Our client Stichting Valkenhof wanted to replace its senior citizens’ flats in the centre of Leende with a building that incorporated healthcare and nursing. The objective was to promote integration with the community and limit stigmatisation of care for the elderly. We designed a low-rise building around courtyards that fits into the immediate surroundings of the residential neighbourhood. The complex houses a mix of functions such as sixty nursing units, twelve assisted homes, a crèche and a library. Residents and visitors to the crèche, library and café walk straight through the building and can continue to the church and the village square. This integration appeals to everyone in the community.
