a living, young listed building

Located on the corner of the Grote Markt and the Broerstraat, V&D Nijmegen is a strikingly rebuilt department store. It has been nominated as a ‘young listed building’. Over the years, the entire ground floor, which previously consisted of glass shop windows, had been bricked shut. New glass façades were constructed in an intensive process with the planning board. 
 
To restore the characteristic height difference, we constructed the glass façades in sections. The shop displays and the facilities on the ground floor such as the La Place restaurant once again provide a lively atmosphere on this junction of shopping streets.
