Apartment block Casimir

2008, Roermond

an elegant apartment block on the edge of the city centre

On the Wilhelminaplein in the centre of Roermond, there was an old, prestigious office building with a prefab annex that was vacant and falling into disrepair. Demolishing the annex returned Casimir to its solitary position. The area that was made available, with the car park, could then be redeveloped for a residential court with parking under the new buildings. The site is on the outside of the boulevard that encircles the city centre. It also provides access to the centre.

Opposite the building site is a high-rise office building. In our construction plan, we integrated a high-rise apartment block as a reflection of this. The block has been divided into four quarters by combining alternating black brickwork façades with patinated zinc façades. This makes the block slim and elegant.
